The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce honoured local businesses at the 14th annual Business Excellence Awards at Pointe West Golf Club Thursday night.
Richard Peddie, a best-selling author, community builder and BobLo Island resident, delivered the keynote speech. He said Amherstburg was "on a roll" and poised for great things.
"I really believe the best is yet to come," said Peddie. "Together we can help create an even better Amherstburg."
Peddie announced the formation of a "new and improved" Amherstburg Community Foundation, with a new board and a new mandate to raise funds for community-building projects revolving around three core values: Healthy, Inspiring and Inclusive.
The board's seven directors have personally pledged $140,000 over three years, with $60,000 earmarked for this year alone. They will actively seek additional funds for signature projects from local businesses and residents.
The Amherstburg Chamber handed out awards in eleven categories ranging from Employer of the Year to New Business of the Year.
