Ten beautiful gardens of varying sizes will be showcased this year from downtown Amherstburg to Malden Centre. The self-paced, self-guided tours kick off at the Hub, home to the signature garden tended to by volunteers with the Amherstburg Fort Malden Horticultural Society. Participants will receive brochures when they start off at the Hub detailing the locations of the gardens.

The theme this year is Nature, Music and Art. Plein Air artists will be painting in some of the gardens and a harpist will be playing in another. One of the gardens has an Orchid House and another has a stained glass studio.

The event takes place rain or shine and all proceeds benefit the Hort Society, which does so much to keep our Town looking so beautiful. Members of the Hort Society helped to pick this year’s feature gardens and about 50 volunteers will be out on the weekend helping to ensure garden tour participants have a fantastic time.

“It’s something we put out hearts and souls into and we certainly like it when people come out and enjoy it,” said Hort Society President Linda Jackson. “We need to encourage horticulture and people can come out and enjoy the gardens and get ideas for their own gardens.”

This is the first Garden Tour since 2019 and they will now be held every two years.

“We’re terribly excited about it,” said Jackson.
