Amherstburg Releases 2020 Draft Budget

Amherstburg CAO John Miceli has unveiled a draft budget calling for a 4.55 per cent tax increase that includes funding for the Great Spaces-Great Places initiative and a capital works program, including more than $7.2 million for road and bridge projects, that is financed without any debt.

It is important to note this is just a draft budget. My council colleagues and I are now poring over the budget and seeking input from residents in the bid to ensure the final budget balances the ability of residents to pay with their expectations for services and amenities.

There is a public consultation session at the Libro Centre on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. If you can't make it, you can email me your comments or phone me at 519-981=4875

Council will deliberate the budget in Council Chambers from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, and all day on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

If required, budget deliberations will continue on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

You can read the Draft Budget and the presentation made to Council by visiting Talk The Burg!

What should be added to the Budget? What should be cut? Let me know.
