Staff with the Town of Amherstburg have done an incredible job transforming the Libro Centre into a targeted vaccination site ready to inoculate thousands of residents against COVID-19.

Amherstburg’s King’s Navy Yard Park and the Town’s River Lights Festival, which provided light and hope in the midst of a pandemic winter, were each named winners Wednesday in the Best of Windsor-Essex awards presented by Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island.

I seconded a motion to immediately begin public consultation on the replacement of aging playground equipment in Jack Purdie and Briar Ridge Parks and successfully introduce a motion to have the Town ask the school board if it could have the dirt generated by school construction to make a small hill or contoured land for, say, a BMX pump track.

Amherstburg is the place to be! 2020 was one of the “busiest years on record” for building activity, with 454 permits issued with an approximate construction value of $126 million.

I’m getting lots of questions about some buzzkill signs that have been posted by the Town near the hill at the Libro Centre and wanted to update residents and articulate a bit of a vision for the rolling landscape that exists on the sprawling property.

I went for a long run/walk in Amherstburg last weekend as part of the Coldest Night of the Year in support of The House Youth Centre and was blown away by the impressive and impeccable work of Amherstburg snow removal crews.

The Greater Essex County Public District School Board has launched an online survey seeking input on the naming of the new Amherstburg High School that is replacing General Amherst High School and Western Secondary School.

Contrary to what you may have been told or read on social media, Amherstburg Council did not vote on Monday night to remove Russell Renaud Hill from the northern end of Centennial Park. Nor did we vote to sell any parkland, rezone any parkland or proceed with development of any parkland.
