Voting Record -- May 25, 2020

I was happy to support securing lease agreements with multiple community organizations to fill out the St. Bernard Community Hub and to send a letter in support of local newspapers to the federal government. Here's how I voted on May 25th, 2020:

REPORT OUT FROM IN CAMERA

 Lease Agreements for 320 Richmond Street

Directed Administration to finalize 10-Year lease agreements with The House of Shalom, Fighting Island Boxing Club and the Verdi Club for space at 320 Richmond Street and authorized Administration to complete the necessary leasehold improvements for Phase 2 at a cost not to exceed $626,900 plus HST. Authorized Administration to use $638,000 from the Parkland Reserve account for the leasehold improvements. Authorized Administration to dispose of 300 Victoria Street, the home of the Fighting Island Boxing Club, when approriate according to the Town policy and that those proceeds be transferred into the Parkland Reserve account.

 12.1 2020 Mill and Pave Program – Tender Results

Awarded to Mill-Am Corporation a $410,508 plus H.S.T. tender for the 2020 Mill and Pave program for resurfacing St. Therese, Woodside, Durango and Venetian. 

REPORTS - PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT AND LEGISLATIVE SERVICES

 13.1 Kingsbridge Subdivision Phase 5G – Minor Subdivision Agreement Amendment File No. 37-T-13003

Authorized the signing of a Subdivision Agreement Amendment between 1027579 Ontario Limited, 1078217 Ontario Limited and the Town of Amherstburg for Kingsbridge Subdivision Phase 5G.

 13.2 Removal of Holding Zone for Kingsbridge Subdivision Phase 5G, 7A, and 9A&B

Passed By-Law 2020-033 to remove a holding zone for Kingsbridge Subdivision Phases 5G, 7A and 9A&B.

REPORTS - CAO's OFFICE

 14.1 Request to Waive User Fees – Unauthorized Open Burn

Voted to deny the request for a waiver of fees associated with an unauthorized open burn.

 14.2 Amherstburg Environmental Advisory Committee – Additional Considerations to Terms of Reference

Adopted the Terms of Reference for Amherstburg's Environmental Advisory Committee and stipulated that decisions made by the Essex Region Conservation Authority supersede those of the committee when they are in conflict.

 14.3 Open Mic Budget Session May 2020 – Further Direction Required

Rescinded a motion for an open mic meeting to be held in May and that consideration of amending the approach to public engagement on the Town's Budget be deferred until the completion of the Town's Service Delivery Review.

CONSENT CORRESPONDENCE

 16.3 Request to Reconsider Postmedia Closure - Town of Tecumseh Resolution

Directed Administration to send correspondence to the federal government in support of the Town of Tecumseh's request regarding the permanent closing of several community newspapers in Essex County. #SaveLocalNews #LocalNewsMatters

 16.5 Rent Relief Advocacy Letter - Oakville Economic Task Force

Directed Administration to send correspondence in support of the Oakville Economic Task Force's proposed changes to the Commercial Rent Assistance Program. 

 16.7 Universal Basic Income - City of Kitchener Resolution

Directed Administration to send correspondence in support of the City of Kitchener's resolution regarding their request for the provincial government to pursue a partnership with the federal government for the establishment of a universal basic income. 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 17.1 Replacement of Lion's Pool and Centennial Park Baseball Diamonds

Directed Administration to put back onto the Unfinished Business List a request for a report on the projected time frame for the replacement of the Lion's Pool and Centennial baseball diamonds that includes cost and recommendations for location.
