Amherstburg Residents Can Register For Ice Storm Debris Clean Up

Amherstburg residents hit hard by the recent ice storm are being encouraged to register their property so that crews can pick up tree branches and other debris from the curb.

Residents can fill out an online form and review more information at Amherstburg.ca/treedamage.Tree debris curbside on an Amherstburg street.

You will be asked for your name and address and to make a determination as to whether the amount of debris is light, moderate or heavy so crews can plan accordingly.

Residents also have the option of phoning 519-730-2113 and leaving a message, slowly and clearly, with your name and address.

Crews will start picking up the debris and using a wood chipper on Thursday, March 2. Please be patient as the work may take a few weeks to complete.

To assist with safe and efficient pick-up, residents are asked to please:

  • Put branches and limbs in smaller manageable piles over the length of property vs one large pile.
  • If there is more debris, start a second row of smaller piles.
  • Ends of branches need to be pointed to the road for easier transition for crews to work into the chipper units.
  • The contractor is there to collect the debris at the curb and will not be completing any trimming or maintenance on private trees. Residents are encouraged to contact a tree company to inspect and maintain private damaged trees.
