Amherstburg Seeks Input on Community Strategic Plan

The Town is seeking input from residents as it develops a new Community Strategic Plan – a document that will articulate an overarching vision for the Town to help inform day-to-day operations and the decision-making of Council.

Residents have until June 26th to fill out a survey on Talk the Burg. Hard copies of the survey are also available at Town Hall and the Libro Centre.

Representatives for StrategyCorp, the consultants hired to help prepare the Community Strategic Plan, will also host community pop-ups on Friday, June 16th and Saturday, June 17th.

On Friday, there will be pop-ups from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sobeys; from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Canadian Tire and then at Richmond and Dalhousie Streets during the Open Air Night Market from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, you can head out to a community pop-up from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Amherstburg Farmers’ Market at GL Heritage Brewery.

Public participation is key in developing a strategic plan so that we can collectively set priorities and goals, capitalize on our incredible momentum and seize the opportunities before us. Please fill out a survey or attend a community pop-up so that your voice is heard!

“The purpose of a Community Based Strategic Plan is to consult with the community in order to identify prioritized objectives that can be actioned, measured and monitored,” said a report to Council. “The plan then becomes the guiding document for Council to be proactive rather than reactive in making decisions and allocating municipal resources.”

The previous Community Based Strategic Plan was in effect from 2016 to 2021 and had as its four pillars: Marketing and Promotion; Economic Development; Investment in Infrastructure and Fiscal Sustainability.
