A total of 20,164 doses had been administered by the end of day Saturday. The clinic first opened on March 31. There have been more than 309,000 vaccines administered across Windsor-Essex, with more than 261,000 residents or nearly 72 per cent of the adult population having received a first dose.

A team of nearly 80 people, including Town staff who ordinarily work on other files, have done an exceptional job running a smooth and efficient operation at the Libro Centre and keeping our community safe.A sign outside the mass vaccination centre in Amherstburg

I’ve heard nothing but great things from people who have been vaccinated in Amherstburg and I’m starting to hear from people who have received a second dose. I had a similarly positive experience when I received my first dose and am expecting the same for my second.

Kudos to Town staff for the exceptional work on this historic undertaking and kudos to everyone filing into the Libro to get their vaccines. We are beating back this terrible virus one shot, one arm at a time. Let’s keep the momentum going.

It’s been a long, drawn out fight against COVID-19 but that light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter and it’s shaping up to be a glorious summer, with our economy reopening and Open Air Weekends kicking off again Friday night.
