Voting Record -- June 22

I was happy to approve a capital expenditure necessary to receive funding for the replacement of the bridge over River Canard on Concession Road 5 North and I supported sending a letter to Premier Doug Ford imploring him to allow Amherstburg to move to its economy to Stage 2. Here's how I voted on June 22, 2020:

DELEGATIONS

 6.1 Request for 4-way Stop Sign at Cherrylawn and Pickering - Katherine Meloche

Directed Administration to bring back a report as soon as possible once the speed data has been collected at Pickering and Cherrylawn and to provide the remedies available to lower the speed in that location. 

REPORTS - CORPORATE SERVICES

 7.1 Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) - Rural and Northern Communities Funding Stream Grant Transfer Payment Agreement

Approved a capital expenditure not to exceed $3,050,000 with 50 per cent funding from the federal government and 33 per cent from the province to replace Bridge 3012 over the Canard River on Concession Road 5 North.

REPORTS – ENGINEERING AND PUBLIC WORKS

 9.1 Placement of Underground Infrastructure, Curbs and Base Asphalt on Maintenance – Kingsbridge Subdivision Phase 5A

Accepted the recommendations of consulting engineer, Baird AE, regarding the placement of underground infrastructure, curbs and base asphalt on maintenance in Kingsbridge Subdivision 5A and placed them on a 1-year maintenance period commencing June 5, 2020.

 9.2. Placement of Underground Infrastructure, Curbs and Base Asphalt on Maintenance – Kingsbridge Subdivision Phase 9B

Accepted the recommendations of consulting engineer, Baird AE, regarding the placement of underground infrastructure, curbs and base asphalt on maintenance in Kingsbridge Subdivision 9B and placed them on a 1-year maintenance period commencing June 4, 2020.

 9.3 Placement of Kingsbridge Sanitary Trunk Sewer on Maintenance

Accepted the recommendations of consulting engineer, Baird AE, regarding the placement of the Kingsbridge Sanitary Trunk Sewer and placed it on on a 1-year maintenance period commencing May 31, 2020.

 9.4 Fryer Street Reconstruction – Alma Street to Simcoe Street - Engineering Services

Approved an agreement with Dillon Consulting Ltd. For Engineering Services related to the reconstruction of Fryer Street from Alma Street to Simcoe Street for a total not to exceed $137,075 plus applicable taxes.

 9.2.2 Suitability for Development of Two Proposed Lots, E/S Concession 2 North - on Private Septic Systems

Approved the development of the two lots on E/S Concession 2 North on private septic systems.

REPORTS – CAO's OFFICE

 11.1 Disposition of Surplus Property Policy – Amendment

Approved the policy as amended.

 11.2 At-large vs. Ward System Elections

Voted to receive the report and have administration investigate other options. I spoke in favour of the current system.

CONSENT CORRESPONDENCE

 13.2 Spread of COVID-19 in Farm Worker Population - Town of Essex Resolution

Directed Administration to send correspondence in support of the Town of Essex' resolution regarding their request for emergency action to be taken by all levels of government to support local farm workers, including migrant workers, as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 16.1 By-law 2020-028 being a Zoning By-law Amendment for the Extension of the Temporary Use By-law for 9830 Walker Road (File ZBA-03-20)

Passed By-Law 2020-028 being a Zoning By-Law Amendment for the Extension of the Temporary Use By-Law for 9830 Walker Road.

 16.2 Stage 2 Letter to Ontario Premier Doug Ford

Voted for Mayor Aldo DiCarlo to send a letter to Premier Doug Ford imploring him to move Amherstburg to Stage 2 or else provide businesses with economic aid if he did not.

Accepted results from the performance review of CAO John Miceli: "It is clear from the results that Mr. Miceli demonstrates above average skills and abilities within the competency areas deemed important for the role of CAO Town of Amherstburg. Council is delighted with the results of this CAO Evaluation and congratulate Mr. Miceli on his remarkable results."
