Amherstburg attractions, experiences and businesses have been nominated 31 times in 25 categories in the 8th Annual Best of Windsor-Essex awards.
The deadline to help your favourite Amherstburg spots win top honours is 11:59 p.m. Sunday so take a few minutes this weekend and cast your votes!
Our quaint and colourful downtown shopping district, the River Lights Winter Festival, King’s Navy Yard Park, the ghost tours at Park House Museum and multiple historic sites are among the nominees that include local restaurants, retail shops, a winery, a brewery, a distillery, a gallery and even a challenging mini golf course in the heart of Malden.
King's Navy Yard Park was named Best Park or Garden in Windsor-Essex last year, a category it has won for multiple years running. It is nominated in that category again this year as well as in the Favourite Photo Op category for the County of Essex. Fort Malden National Historic Site is also nominated this year in the Photo Op category.
River Lights Winter Festival was nominated this year in the best Holiday Event category and the Gibson Gallery, which does so much to promote local art and artists in this Town, was nominated in the Best Art Gallery or Space. In the local Artisan or Maker category, Park House Museum and Terra Green Gardens picked up nominations. Terra Green Gardens was also nominated in the Locally Made Store category.
As might be expected, Amherstburg dominates the Best Historical Attraction category, occupying three spots with the Amherstburg Freedom Museum, Fort Malden National Historic Site and Park House Museum.
The Amherstburg Farmers Market was nominated in the Best Farmers Market category and so was the Farm House Market in McGregor. G.L. Heritage Brewery was nominated for Best Brewery Experience again this year, Wolfhead Distillery was again nominated in the Art of the Cocktail category and Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery was nominated in the Best Winery Experience category.
Riccardo’s Italian Restaurant received two nominations, one in the Best Date Night category and another in the Best Pasta House category. Neighbour Caffeine and Co. received a nod in the best Coffee House or Roaster Category and fellow neighbour Waterfront Ice Cream and Yogurt was nominated in the Ice Cream Parlour category. Burger 67 also received a nomination for best Burger Joint.
A new entry to this year’s list was The Little White Church, which was nominated in the Unique Stay category.
Congratulations and best of luck to all of the nominated businesses!
