The town’s By-law Enforcement Department has been flying with one wing for some time so my fellow councillors and I voted to hire a second-full time enforcement officer.

The new full-time position will replace a part-time position, which has been vacant and tough for the Town to fill. The full-time post will provide 7-day coverage with union support and increase annual hours of service by 702 hours or 36 per cent, better equipping the department to oversee more than 20 bylaws dealing with everything from dirty yards to dogs to discharging firearms.

Two hundred and fifty Canadian flags were planted in honour of fallen Royal Canadian Legion members and Veterans at Rose Hill Cemetery in Amherstburg Sunday.

I was happy to support a noise By-law exemption for the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Malden Branch 157 and I also supported bringing forward a report on the live streaming of council meetings.

As well, I voted to have the town try roller skating at the Libro Centre.

River Canard residents got to share their vision for a revitalized Beaudoin Park with the Town Thursday during two open houses at Fire Station #2 at 3400 Middle Side Road. There was a session from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a second session from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Town administration agreed Monday night to give it a test spin, following in the retro skate strides of other municipalities including Essex, Lakeshore, Leamington and Windsor.
