It’s hard to believe it’s been just over a week since the Town of Amherstburg declared a State of Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the looming threat of rising water levels. So much has changed, so much has been accomplished and so much may yet come.

The Town of Amherstburg declared a State of Emergency Sunday, joining the County of Essex and its six other local municipalities in the fight against COVID-19.

I was happy to signal the Town's support for Cannabis Consumption Cafes and to authorize a funding agreement with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to examine the delivery of Town services for cost savings and improvements. Here's how I voted on March 9, 2020:

Amherstburg Council has voted to close to the public all municipal facilities, including Town Hall, and restrict public access to meetings to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

I was happy to support the Bob Meloche Kids Fishing Derby and the Ribs and Ragtime event hosted by the Amherstburg Freedom Museum and I voted in favour of establishing an Environmental Advisory Committee. Here's how I voted on February 24, 2020:

The head of the Amherstburg detachment of Windsor Police wants residents to engage with his officers and envisions more foot patrols in parks, and even summer bike patrols, as part of an effort to promote proactive, community policing.

I supported the bid to submit the Honeywell property for consideration to the province's Job Sites Challenge and directed Administration to look into prohibiting on-street parking during major snowfall events. Here's how I voted on February 10, 2020:

The provincial government is seeking public input on whether and in what fashion consumers should be allowed to purchase and consume cannabis in designated public spaces such as cafes and at special events like music festivals.
